ADVANCED COURSES
How to Conduct a Chart Audit (3 hours)
This course instructs on the skills and tools necessary to conduct your own chart audits. This advanced course teaches how to develop your own quality assurance program. Upon completion of this program you should be able to:
Examine practice patterns and utilization
Conduct internal audits of charts and claims
Identify claim errors, omissions and develop working solutions
Quantify the financial impact of problems identified in the audit
Analyzing Payor Contracts (2 hours)
This course utilizes Microsoft Excel and customized spreadsheets to assist in analyzing third-party payer reimbursement. This course provides the tools and teaches how to analyze payer rates based on the practice's utilization of services and reimbursement rates. Computer knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel is required for this course. Hands-on course requiring attendees to utilize a laptop computer.
Reimbursement Issues in Glaucoma (TBD)
This course deals with documentation and coding issues specific to glaucoma specialists. Taught at a clinically advanced level for a physician audience.
Reimbursement Issues in Pediatrics (TBD)
This course deals with documentation and coding issues specific to pediatric ophthalmologists. Taught at a clinically advanced level for a physician audience.
Reimbursement Issues in Oculoplastics (TBD)
This course deals with documentation and coding issues specific to ophthalmologists with an oculoplastic subspecialty. Taught at a clinically advanced level for a physician audience.
Reimbursement Issues in Retina (TBD)
This course deals with documentation and coding issues specific to ophthalmologists with a subspecialty in retina. Taught at a clinically advanced level for a physician audience.

Auditor Training Program (1.5 days)
Conducted at various times and locations during the year
An expert class for compliance officers and would-be auditors that teaches you how to conduct your own chart audits and quantify the results. This course teaches you how to develop your own quality assurance program to evaluate utilization patterns, audit medical records, validate claims for reimbursement, correct overpayments, identify potential fraud, and assess the billing policies within your practice. Strong emphasis is placed on quantitative analysis of the audit results. Each participant receives a copy of our customized Excel spreadsheets for tabulating audits which are used throughout the program. Class size is strictly limited to 12 participants in order to provide personal attention to each attendee. Specific problems and concerns from your practice are addressed. A comprehensive handout is included.
