Walter L. Underwood

Walter L. Underwood, FACMPE, MBA  is a Practice Management Consultant with Corcoran Consulting Group.

Prior to joining the Corcoran Consulting Group in 2009, he was a Chief Executive Officer in a high volume medical/surgical ophthalmic and optometric practice in Georgia for 17 years. His responsibilities included strategic planning, financial management, marketing, and human resources.

He received his Master of Business Administration with specialization in medical administration and health systems planning from George Washington University in 1969. He is a fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives (FACMPE). Walt is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives (AAOE) and served as Board member from 2003-2005 and as Board Chair in 2005.

A nationally recognized speaker, Walt participates annually at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) meeting and the annual meeting of the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA). He also provides practice management consulting to eye care providers. He has authored articles on practice management issues in various publications and was recognized by MGMA for "Article of the Year" award in 2000.

Walt conducts business from Corcoran Consulting Group’s office in Atlanta, Georgia.
