Peter. J. Sakol
Dr. Peter Sakol is a consultant with Corcoran Consulting Group.
Dr. Sakol has maintained an active private practice in Ophthalmology, Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Laser Surgery since 1990. He has worked in large high volume ophthalmic practices and currently is self-employed in his own solo practice.
After receiving his undergraduate and medical degrees at Northwestern University's Honors Program in Medical Education, Dr. Sakol served his internship at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, New York and his Ophthalmology residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. He completed Fellowship training in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive surgery at the Eye Institute, Medical College of Wisconsin. In 2002, Dr. Sakol earned his law degree from Widener University School of Law in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Sakol has also published numerous articles and trained other surgeons in various ophthalmic plastic procedures. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Medical Association.
Since 1995, he has served as a consultant for various health insurance companies, credentialing committees and the Keystone Peer Review Organization (KePRO). He is presently a professional consultant and reviewer for Highmark Blue Shield and Medicare, a position he has held since 2000. He is also an expert witness and consultant for the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine. In 2007, he joined Corcoran Consulting Group as a consultant with a special interest in reimbursement issues related to oculoplastics.
