Training:
Our goal is to customize a program to meet the needs of our audience. Our courses are suitable for ophthalmologists, optometrists, opticians, administrative personnel, technicians, and billing staff.
These programs vary in length. Each program is taught with a comprehensive handout that will be a valuable resource long after the program is over. We offer full-day programs, half-day programs, and brief one to two hour programs. They can be conducted during the day, evening, weekdays or weekends.
We are pleased to offer JCAHPO, COE, and AAPC credits for many of our programs. Please be sure to ask about continuing education credits for your program.
Onsite Training:
On-site training is performed at a specific practice exclusively for your physicians and staff. The agenda for the day is carefully planned to meet the objectives of the practice. The setting also allows for one-on-one training with specific physicians and staff.
Training can be conducted in various formats.
Webinar:
Individual topics may be addressed via web-based seminar (webinar). These programs generally last 60 to 90 minutes and are custom-designed for your staff.
Community Seminar:
A seminar, hosted by your practice, is aimed at physicians in the community to promote mutual understanding and communication. Seminars provide training on a wide variety of topics with plenty of time for Q&A.
Topics:
The list of course topics can apply to both on-site training and seminars. There are three levels of training:
Introductory
Intermediate
Advanced
Chart Review:
A chart review examines a representative sample of charts and the corresponding financial ledgers to identify billing errors and assess the quality of your chart documentation, particularly for Medicare. We also look for ways to improve reimbursement by identifying missed charges or underutilized services. When errors are identified, we quantify the frequency and magnitude of the erroneous claims for reimbursement and estimate the economic impact on collections.
Our findings are memorialized in a comprehensive written report. Your report is unique and confidential. It is recommended that the results be shared with the physicians and selected staff members as a basis for discussion and improvement.
During a chart review, we follow the same protocol employed by Medicare during their post- payment reviews for program integrity. We provide conservative recommendations to keep you beyond reproach. We believe that our approach provides a fair assessment of the quality of your practice management.
When considering a chart review, the practice must decide the motive, scope and depth of the analysis. Corcoran Consulting Group has developed a tool to help define the type of review that would best serve your needs.
Fee Schedule Analysis:
Corcoran Consulting Group analyzes your existing fee schedule and provides our recommendations for revision for all applicable CPT codes based on Medicare’s allowable charges, and reasonable and customary values used by other third party payers in your community. We do not set fees for our clients; our role is an advisory one. Recommendations usually include:
- Remove or segregate duplicate or obsolete entries.
- Increase fees where Medicare allowable exceeds your current fee.
- Decrease fees where your charge greatly exceeds what commercial carriers expect to pay.
Overall, we optimized the fee schedule to avoid extraordinary values while establishing appropriate fees for your practice. Your fee schedule should be revised at least once per year, typically in December or January.
