2007 Medicare Deductible Increase

The Medicare Part B deductible changes for the third year in a row. The 2007 Medicare deductible increases to $131 beginning January 1, 2007. The Medicare Modernization Act stipulates that the Part B deductible be indexed to the increase in the average cost of Part B services.

In addition, Medicare beneficiaries with taxable income greater than $80,000 for an individual, or $160,000 for a couple, will pay higher Medicare Part B premiums beginning in 2007. It is estimated that this will affect approximately 4% of Part B enrollees.
