2021 MIPS Performance Feedback, 2021 MIPS Final Score, and 2023 MIPS Payment Adjustment Information
The Centers for Medicare & Medicare Services (CMS) has released Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) performance feedback and final scores for the 2021 performance year, along with the associated MIPS payment adjustment information for the 2023 payment year.
On the Quality Payment Program website, you can view your 2021 MIPS performance feedback, including your final score and 2023 payment adjustment. For MIPS-eligible clinicians, your 2021 final score determines the payment adjustment you’ll receive in 2023; a positive, negative, or neutral payment adjustment will be applied to the Medicare paid amount for covered professional services furnished in 2023.
If you believe there’s an error in calculating your MIPS payment adjustment factor(s), you can request a targeted review until October 21, 2022. To request a targeted review, sign in to the QPP web page using your HCQIS Access Roles and Profile (HARP) system credentials; these are the same credentials that allowed you to submit your 2021 MIPS data. Then click “Targeted Review” on the left-hand navigation.
For more information about how to request a targeted review, please refer to the 2021 Targeted Review User Guide (PDF). For more information on payment adjustments, please refer to the 2023 MIPS Payment Year Payment Adjustment User Guide (PDF).
As always, we are available and happy to assist you with issues related to this topic as well as on many other issues related to eye care coding and reimbursement. Stay safe.
