Delayed Implantation of Tamper Resistant RX Pad Requirement
On 9/7/07, we reported on this website that effective October 1, 2007, all outpatient drugs for Medicaid beneficiaries reimbursed by the federal government must be written on a tamper-resistant pad. House bill HR 3688 passed on September 26, 2007 delays several health care related requirements due to expire on September 30, 2007. The tamper resistant prescription pad issue was included and therefore will not be implemented on October 1, 2007 as originally planned. You can expect a six-month delay in execution. CCG will continue to monitor this issue and keep you updated via our website news.
