Electronic Prescribing Feedback Reports

Are you waiting to learn if you are exempt from the 2012 E-prescribing penalty for not satisfying the electronic prescribing requirement in 2011?  If so, CMS recommends that you review your explanation of benefits for services provided after January 1, 2012 to determine if the penalty is being applied.  Due to an overwhelming number of hardship exemption requests submitted, CMS states it is unable to provide the anticipated feedback reports to individual providers.

Eligible professionals who did not meet the required criteria for E-prescribing will receive 99% (1% penalty) of their Medicare Part B allowed dollars from January 1 – December 31, 2012.  The term “LE” will be on their Remittance Advice for all services along with an adjustment reason code and remittance advice remark code.

Nonparticipating providers subject to the payment adjustment are instructed to contact their Part B contractor for instruction on how the adjustment will be applied to their limiting charge.
