Fee Cut Postponed Again

President Obama signed the Continuing Extension Act of 2010 which extends the existing Medicare payments until May 31, 2010. In anticipation of another extension, CMS has been holding claims dated April 1 and beyond and avoided processing them at the reduced rate. These claims have been released for payment and should be paid at the current rate. Any claims paid out at the reduced rate will be reprocessed.

This extension continues to delay any permanent solution to eliminating or fixing the SGR formula. We will continue to monitor Congress’ efforts to resolve the fee schedule issue prior to June 1, 2010.
