HHS Extends the Public Health Emergency

Secretary of Health and Human Services, Alex Azar, extended the Public Health Emergency (PHE) declaration for COVID-19 pandemic on January 7, 2021.  Link here.  This extends the original declaration made on January 31, 2020, which was renewed this past April, July and October.

This action also extends for an additional 90 days the special circumstances related to what is known as the “Section 1135” HIPAA waivers related to telemedicine.  Our original March 19, 2020 Webnews article on this subject can be found at this link.
