Retina Doctor Going To Jail
An East Memphis ophthalmologist, Seth Yoser, MD, has been convicted of fraud and sentenced to 42 months in jail and has lost his medical license in two states. His problems started with splitting vials of Lucentis and falsely billing Medicare. The case highlights an emerging problem in ophthalmology related to mishandling of drugs, particularly expensive ones. Other investigations are pending. During sentencing proceedings, Dr. Yoser said, “there was some greed involved.”
The Daily News, a local paper in Memphis, has reported on the story.
