Revalidation CMS site goes live
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that they resumed live updating of the CMS Revalidation website. It had been available for use but this site was not being actively managed during the Public Health Emergency (PHE) due to COVID-19. They stated on their main Medicare Revalidation List webpage under a “COVID-19 updates” section the following:
“Beginning October 31, 2021, CMS will be resuming provider and supplier revalidation activities. The MACs will issue a revalidation notice to the provider and supplier at least 3 months in advance of their adjusted due date. The Medicare Revalidation Tool has also been updated to display an adjusted revalidation due date in addition to the provider or supplier’s original revalidation due date. The adjusted revalidation due date will be displayed at least 3 months in advance of the provider’s or supplier’s adjusted due date.”
CMS also makes clear that providers should wait to receive a revalidation notice before doing the submission as their window may not be open otherwise. They note:
“Only submit a revalidation application if you see an adjusted revalidation due date and/or received a revalidation notice from your MAC. Any unsolicited revalidation applications may be returned.”
In an area about the Lookup Tool, CMS notes:
“… CMS sets every provider’s revalidation due-date at the end of a month, and posts the revalidation due date six to seven months in advance. A due date of “TBD” [when using the tool lookup feature for a provider] means that CMS has not set the due date yet.”
CMS noted that the most recent data refresh for the Lookup Tool was on December 1, 2021 and the next is scheduled for January 1, 2022. CMS also has some published Resources available on the site for those with other questions.
