Revalidation Deadline
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) contains a provision requiring all providers (including physicians) and suppliers to update their enrollment information with CMS. This obligation applies to providers and suppliers enrolled in the Medicare program prior to March 25, 2011. MedLearn Matters Number SE1126 cites a deadline of March 23, 2013 to complete this process.
Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) will notify providers and suppliers when they should update their enrollment information. PECOs continues to be the recommended approach to submitting revalidation information. Providers and suppliers will have sixty (60) days from the date of the revalidation request to complete the process. Failure to do so within the time frame may result in a deactivation of Medicare billing privileges.
