Telehealth and Coverage by Private Commercial Plans and Medicare Advantage (MA) Plans
Even before the COVID-19 public health emergency, CMS gave Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C Medicare) the ability to greatly expand coverage for telehealth services for their beneficiaries beginning in 2020. Many did so. Some commercial insurance plans already covered, or will now cover, telemedicine services.
Commercial and MA plans may also waive their beneficiaries’ copayments and deductibles for these services when covered, so be sure and check that as well.
