Update: CMS Announces Extension to 12/01/2017 for the 2016 “Physician Compare” Data
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that the preview period to review both individual provider and physician group data that will be used to post to the public “Physician Compare” website was extended. This period opened on October 18, 2017, and will now remain open until 8 PM Eastern time on December 1, 2017. The previously published date was November 17, 2017. This important information compiled from the 2016 claims data will not be released to the public during the preview period.
CMS advises that providers view the information as soon as possible. The information itself is available only via the CMS Enterprise Identity Management (EIDM) portal, and that those accessing the portal “need to have the correct Enterprise Identity Management (EIDM) account and appropriate user role to access the Provider Quality Information Portal (PQIP) …”
CMS also notes the following information:
- “ … Become an expert at navigating the preview period by checking out the following resources in the Preview Period Toolkit:”
- Helpful CMS files on the Physician Compare Initiative website (link here):
- “Preview your data as early as possible to make sure you get a chance to see what your performance information will look like before they are published on Physician Compare!”
