Version 5010 Compliance

CMS’ Office of E-Health Standards and Services announced on Thursday, November 17, 2011 that enforcement activities for noncompliance with the new HIPAA transaction standard, Version 5010, would not occur until March 31, 2012.

The expected date of compliance remains January 1, 2012. Covered entities should strive to be compliant by the January deadline. You should be working with your computer vendors and payers to test claims for the 5010-compliant format.
